A price is not a prediction that something will happen
A contract trading at 72 cents means traders price about a 72 percent chance the event happens. That means it fails about one time in four. When a high-priced contract loses, the market was not necessarily wrong. It priced the risk, and the less likely outcome happened.
Resolution and edge cases
How a market resolves is defined by Polymarket’s own rules for that market. Some markets have ambiguous or contested resolutions. Where a resolution is ambiguous, this site says so plainly instead of making a confident call it cannot support.
